I want to transfer my infant 6 month old into her older brother's room.

How do I go about it? She might wake him when she cries for me.

Any tips and advice?

I use a sound machine to help them tune each other out. Otherwise, it's just life and we all learn the deal with it. If possible, stagger bedtimes so one is sleeping before you put the other one in. That way they don't rile each other up.

What does this mean? Keep infant in my room indefinitely?

I would, until the baby is sleeping through the night. I’d rather that than having to deal with two kids waking each other up all night

Honestly I do this day 1 home from
The hospital. I find the crying initially sounds like a cat and gets gradually louder and my older kids gets used to it and doesn’t wake. But by the time 6 months comes obviously the cries are louder and it can be tricky unless you’ve established the toddler to be a deep sleeper

Thanks for your advice. My older one is 3 years old and has a fantastic sleep schedule but the baby's is wonky and unpredictable. I am kind of hoping once she is out, she'll be wanting me less.

Personally, I would never have my newborn in a different room to me. They are so vulnerable and helpless.

Also, I wouldn't trust my older one not to touch the newborn due to the novelty of it. At this point, she cries so loud that I can't miss it just in case he touches her.

That's what I would like to know too. How do you trust an older young child in the same room as a baby? Not to smother her with a blanket etc.

I've done it with almost 4 year old and 8 month old just fine.

If either of then was making a racket, they woke the other up. Regular baby crying for a feed, didn't.

They do wake each others up in the morning. Wink It's a year later now.
