Firstly, which do you call them?

Secondly, I’ve made the ones from kosher by design a handful of times I’m never happy how they come out (they don’t flatten and taste kind of dense)

I’m looking for a recipe that flattens in the oven and tastes amazing

I have a great recipe that is light and flattens, I do not have it in front of me, but if you have a way to look it up, it's from the old Gold Medal cookbook. I'll try and come back later to post the recipe

The one from the Hershey's website (originally cookbook if you have it) is the best imo

This is my go to recipe. Everyone goes crazy over it. So her goes
Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips
Mix in 1/4 cup of oil.
Then add 3 whole eggs and 1 yolk.
Then add 1 cup of sugar and 1tbls of vanilla
After that you put in 1 cup flour and 1 tsp baking powder.
(If you want you can add in nuts or mini chocolate chips, I don't but the original recipe calls for it)
Once all mixed refrigerate for 4-6 hours or overnight.
Form into balls, coat with confectioner sugar
And bake @ 350 for 10-12 minutes
(I test it by trying to pick up a cookie with a fork, if it picks up I know it's ready. If not then I know it needs another minute or 2)
Don't overtake.
Enjoy
