I also find that many frum people don't like the taste of butter cakes and cookies. We are so used to the taste of pareve options in our baked goods. |
Don't like butter cakes? I'm surprised. Don't they ever have butter on their bread?

I am prejudiced but in my opinion nothing is as delicious as anything made with butter. There are some baked goods that are specifically intended to be made with oil like chiffon cakes but for the most part, most high quality recipes are intended to be made with butter.
If something is clearly marked as dairy - what is the issue.
FWIW, most baked stuff freezes really well,

I would find a dairy cake confusing, we’re so used to pareve unless it’s Shavuos I would have to keep it separate from everything else and make sure everyone knows to look at the label. We also tend to become fleishigs on the early side. The Rav puts out a fleishig spread during the day and we get some fleishig MM we eat for lunch or an afternoon snack.
