Since nice plus sized clothing is so hard to find, I think it would help to bring back sewing as an everyday skill. But even though it's possible for any of us to just start sewing on our own, it would help to make it a "thing." Unfortunately, right now, there aren't that many decent plus size patterns available, and none geared for the frum woman. If more of us start sewing, frum women who design patterns will have a market for it and will be able to start making more.
