Hi,

My birthday is coming up and its a special one.

We don't have a ton of extra money but my husband wants to get me something nice and asked me what I would like.

He will spend about $150.

I have enough jewelry in that price range (silver/cz) and real gold/diamonds are out of the range.

My mother in law already told me she is buying me a gift card to spa so not that either.

I don't enjoy restaurants or shopping.

Does anyone have ideas?

I am pretty particular about gifts and hate getting things I don't like so he wants my input and I am having trouble coming up with something.

What would you enjoy getting?

a Jewish magazine I think.

What has the best articles?

I always feel bored looking at the covers so its hard to gage from there.

My vote is for Mishpacha. Maybe buy a copy and see if the inside is more interesting for you than the cover!

Bumping this up again. I decided a magazine probably isnt the best idea for me. I dont want to get worked up about the articles and the materialism displayed is not something I want my children to be exposed to.

Does anyone else have a good idea? I enjoy activities and experiences more than stuff.

Is there something that would make your life easier or more comfortable?

I'm thinking of getting a comfy chair to sit on while doing bedtime..

If you can get free childcare, Go to a hotel with your husband for one night (15-18 hours away from the kids). Buy some treats or sushi to eat there. It’s about $150 and is so rejuvenating.

Do you like to host? Pretty tablecloth and serving pieces. What about personalized siddur or tehilim. Comfy slippers or luxurious lounge wear or robe? Home scent? Luxurious linen set? Handbag?

Give me ideas of things that make life more comfortable. That seems up my alley.

I have a comfy chair.
I have lots of kitchen gadets that help me.

A magazine subscription is way above the amount you quoted (at least double), so it's moot anyway.

But if you enjoy reading material, maybe ask for a gift card to a bookstore (Jewish or regular). For $150, you should be able to buy several books, at least 5. And if you prefer Jewish reading material, there usually are books published around Pesach time.
