Is it terrible to send a teacher/Rebbe Shalach manos with no check?
Should I send a thank you card anyway?

It’s okay to send a shaloch Manos without a check. A note goes a very long way.. it’s the thought that counts.. I used to teach and I loved the notes much more bc they’re more from the heart.. just my thoughts

When I taught a bunch of years ago in Lakewood there were plenty of people who gave without money.

As a former teacher, I honestly didn’t care. But it’s your call. If someone’s handwriting isn’t legible than type it, if it’s legible than you should write it.
I’m sure whatever you do will be great, bc it’s the thought that counts in the long run.

I give a gift and I handwrite a card and I also have a rule that my children need to write a note to the ir teachers and rebbeim as well. I give the rebbe some money also.

Of course u can send a shaloch manos without a check . I have 7 kids and each has a few morahs or assistants and I have rebbeim, English teachers, playgroup morahs, and babysitter. And OT, kriah morahs, principals, No way am I giving them all checks. Even a basic nice shaloch manos cost a few dollars. I won’t even have time to write cards for 20 morahs. It’s impossible. Even just $10 check for 20 morahs is $200. No way can I do that.
And I make another 50 shaloch manos for neighbors, cousins, siblings
