I wrote out a draft but curious what is appropriate to write.
Also should I be writing "you" or that's disrespectful and I should write "rebbi" instead?

We want to express our hakaras jatov to the rebbe for the hashpa he has on our son. His love for learning is to your credit and we appreciate the huge role(you) the rebbe plays in his chinuch. Thank you for being there for him this year and for all that you do for the entire class. Afreilchin purim

You definitely can address the rebbe as "you". If you have the brain for this, try to be specific in your gratitude. It feels much more genuine. Is he extremely warm and loving? Is he very interesting? Think of something that sticks out in your mind and point it out.
You can end off that you look forward to working with him for the remainder of the year...
