I don't think we'll do it although it is tempting. Is there even such a thing?, I'm not asking my Rav, I'll just make a fool of myself 😂

The kashrus agencies say it can't be done.
Only some sefardim allow it.

Ashkenazi here (chassidish). I was told I can, stainless steel machine.
There's definitely room to ask. You never know!

But the racks are the issue. The racks are plastic aren’t they?

Nope or I'd do it. (I'm assuming you're talking about chametz to klp)

For pesach, no you cannot
For becoming kosher in general, yes most hold you can. You can google the guidelines, I believe Star-K has one to follow
Stainless steel is definitely okay, and some hold plastic interiors are fine too. It needs to not be used for a certain time frame, cleaned very well and run on extremely hot water. Some hold the hottest setting on dishwasher is enough, some hold you need to add a hot stone to it to make the water hotter
Everyone holds that regardless of material, the racks need to be replaced since there are too many crevices that are assumed to not be able to be cleaned

Sefardim can...we do. Its literally just a case of emptying out the filter and running it on hot with a cleaner inside

I have a very frum Askenazi neighbor who does. Her husband asked and was told yes. I don’t know her dishwasher or why she can. We don’t. In my 50 year on earth, I Jane learned the ink stupid question is the one not asked. Ask. You have nothing to lose. You probably can’t but might be surprised.

My Rav (yeshivish Lakewood) holds you can, but not for Pesach since Rav Moshe holds plastic isn’t kasherable for Pesach.
After years of being told by my mom that you can’t, I asked and got the above answer. It never hurts to ask!

I was told there are opinions that it can be done with stainless interior but you need new racks, new pipes/tubes that connect to water source, and is such a pain and expense it won't be worth it.
