I've been experiencing intense shopping obsession lately, especially online. Spending hours scrolling through my phone, neglecting time with my kids and loosing sleep. I've actually discussed it with my therapist, who sees it as a protective coping mechanism. Anyone experiencing this? Looking for support and advice.

Yes me. It’s either movies or shopping or imamother. I need lots of downtime. It’s a trauma response.
DH has it too but he’s much more addicted to me and he plays stupid games all day…
Sigh.

Super duper helpful. Just like you said. And also 100% wrong.
It’s not laziness. Something’s bothering people like us op. Something hurt you deep inside and you’re trying desperately to redirect your mind elsewhere. If it’s a small pain and you need a little distraction you can get away with it. When it’s impacting your life you need to get to the source of the pain and deal with it. That means therapy. Meanwhile try some mindfulness exercises. That might help you reground yourself and get back to your life.

My laziness improved tremendously after I went to therapy, I wonder why?

I feel you. I used to watch movies and shows obsessively. I would go to sleep crazy late and watch every spare second I have. then I did therapy and anxiety meds and I'm doing better but now I have no interest in anything.
I suddenly hate watching, shopping, reading. hi new mental health issue.
it's hard. it's always something. sending support you're way.

If you have nothing nice to say, go Pesach clean.
Also, I pity your children.
