I have a LV epi leather bag. I use it every day and love it. Its older style and not flashy at all.

Worth it? Only you can answer that. What is the reason you want a designer bag?

If it's quality, there are many lower end designer bags that have great quality.

Is it status? - many folks don't assign status based on designer bags. Seeing someone with a 2K bag doesn't make you appear richer or poorer or a higher class.

Does owning such a bag make you happy? Then go for it.

If you're doing it for external reasons, then you may end up disappointed. But if you're doing it for yourself, to make your inner self happy, then why not?

To start I would really only buy from reputable sellers like Madison Ave or Julia Rose Boston. Occasionally at auction like Sothebys or Christie’s but I would pay for authentication afterwards

For authentication I only trust Zeko. She is the best of the best (she only does Chanel). For Hermes I would take it to the spa. If they accept it, it’s real.

Also have this, I got it for the lack of logo. I absolutely love it. It’s under a year old so don’t know how long it will last.

I think flashy is so so tacky

We have a designer bag specialist in this site. Wait a little bit and she will reply to your post.
But, please op, absolutely no Chanel! That wh*re was a Nazi affiliated and openly anti semitic. There many nicer names out there.

Actually Chanel is owned by Jews now, so it’s a good brand to buy from in terms of that, but more $$ than 2k. I’m very happy with my LV bags. YSL crossbody is also a popular choice.

Pros:
It may impress people
It may make you happy because you know it's impressing people
Cons:
It probably will not be looked upon too kindly in Shamayim

That a frum woman can come to a frum site and ask other frum women about spending $2000 a bag says some not such good things about frum society.

I'm not telling anyone how to spend their money. But each and every one of us should be thinking very carefully about flaunting our money. Not good for us. Not good for others and a real "kitrug" on Am Yisrael.

Omigosh. I just can't.

I agree that logos and flashiness are not modest. But a designer bag with no logo, assuming op gives maaser and pays full tuition, is definitely acceptable.

One shouldn’t make fashion and designer stuff their whole focus but I know I enjoy using my quality leather designer bag that only I know is designer. I also learn daily, try not to speak l”h, etc

There are no pros, maybe if you get if for free or for the price of a regular bag. Other than that, I see no benefit.

Chanel and LV a AGS (and most brand names) have a serial number which you can check online. Also, I would buy at therealreal.com for vintage, as well as Vestiaire collective and Poshmark. They all have very good authentication processes (I have sold my bags on all these sites and they were very stringent.
Mercari seems to be ok, a bit less stringent but if it’s a famous (LV, Dior…) it is ok.
You can feel free to message me directly for a specific brand. I have seen the Chanel flap jumbo in black (vintage) good condition sell for 2.6K. LV goes in and out of style, and you can get them for less then 2K vintage and LV will usually change the hardware for free.
