What's your "sock"?!?!?

My SN son has a magic wand!
He stims with a (purim colorful) sock. When he has his sock in his hand, he goes into calm, relaxed mode. He doesnt hear anyone, he is in happy lala land.

We keep joking, that everyone needs a (magic wand) sock, which calms them down at anytime.
And honestly, most people do have something they do, that calms them.
DH- running on hatzalah calls.
Me- organizing or phone
(DS for us means our son with Down syndrome), so I'll say:
Son- reading his magazines.
DD- phone friends
Ive got more bh, but let me hear:

Organizing - the house.
Organizing - events.
Adrenaline induced cleaning/tidying.
Usually by the time my Adrenals crashed a calm settled over me.
Happens rarely. Usually under extreme stress but it's so helpful before pesach 🤪
Going for a walk/run
And if course always music in the background or a good audio book/podcast.

Fermenting and growing things.
Like growing sourdough starter and baking with it or growing my own yogurt. And outdoors, gardening, growing trees and plants.
It calms me down to see things grow and change. Especially things that don't run around and scream Not listening
(Though of course I wouldn't swap my kids for any sourdough or tomato plant in the world.)
