I’m pretty sure my baby has an ear infection. I’ve heard most infections go away on their own and I’d rather not give antibiotics. How long does it usually take for it to go away on its own and at what point should I take him to the Dr?

If he’s crying a lot, not sleeping and not functioning as normal take him in. Sometimes it’s a ruptured ear drum. Hear how bad it is before deciding if you should wait it out or not.

Our doctor says 48 hours with pain relievers but if the pain relievers don’t seem to help then to come in right away

I can't remember the time frame but I took a kid to the Dr about a year ago for an earache and the doctor actually suggested I wait a few days and not give meds. They're not as quick to give antibiotics as they used to be.

It’s been 3 days. No fever, kvetching on and off. He’s not miserable but he usually never kvetches at all. Also I see pus coming out of his eyes.

Pus from eyes is usually congestion from a cold.
It's very normal if he has a cold or stuffy nose he has ear pains and the Dr won't put them on antibiotics as it's not an infection. BTDT.
Get saline spray for babies to help clear the nose so it doesn't go to the eyes.
If he is waking up at night from pain not uncomfort take him to a Dr.

If he seems to be in pain give pain relief even if he doesn't have fever.
