“He made an end to darkness,” and the midrash teaches,”He gave time to the world, how many years it will be made in darkness.”

The Tzemach Tzedek explains further that this is in accordance with what is written in Zohar on the verse, “Everything has an appointed season and there is a time for every matt,” that there is an allotted time to the darkness of the exile.

“(Furthermore, the matter is that) in general, the light repels the darkness (to the point that even a little light repels much darkness), and the concept of “He made an end to darkness” means that after there will be the end of darkness, the concept of darkness will have absolutely no relevance.

And the fact that the Future Redemption will be an eternal redemption with no exile to follow it means that there will be no relevance to the darkness of the exile.

-The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, (Kuntres Chamisha –Asar B’Av 5751)

Thanks for that dose:

Just a point of interest that I learned today on the Parsha,
It says: And these are the names of the Jewish people that went down to Mitzrayim
The medrash says: The names are mentioned here "Al Shem Geulas Yisroel " On the names of the Redemption of Israel
The question is asked: the Pasuk is talking about the Yidden going down to Mitzrayim - exile. How is this in the name of the Redemption?????

The whole idea of " going down to Egypt" in the true sense is -the Redemption of theYidden. And the descent is only external. But in the internal aspect, the descentis part of the elevation and the Geula- Redemption itself.

All the exiles are called on the name of the wicked kingdom of Egypt . The redemption of egypt is connected to all the redemptions. Everyday we mention going out of egypt in our prayer. And " in every generation (an every day) a person is obligated to see himself as though he went out today from egypt".

We learn from here that we need to also draw into this exile the"Redemption of the Yidden"; THE TRUE AND COMPLETE REDEMPTION.
