Anyone know the reason why (in ch"ul) when writing the name of a choleh, the ben and bas is not written out fully, it is written ן- or ת- ?
My husband says in Israel it is not done.

I was told that it's so that when you erase the name/cross it off you aren't erasing someone's full name- a letter is missing. I know people who will never cross out someone's name, and if they misspell it or such, will just rewrite it properly and cirlcle that one.
