I just shave my hair off. Save a bundle on shampoo.

I'll definitely try this! Forget about the health benefits -- I just hate spending money on shampoo. BTW, the formula for shampoo and dishwashing soap is very similar -- I've used dishwashing soap on my hair on many occasions.

I think you get more for your money with shampoo, though.

I don't see any reason to favor either method over the other, but it's good to know in case you run out of shampoo. I disagree with the blogger's claim that your skin produces oil on demand, though. If that were the case, our hands would be slick with oil all the time and no one would ever have to worry about dry skin.

this seems like an interesting idea... but if you avoid using the shampoo because of all the chemicals, what about conditioner?

'budget and bargains'? I dont think a bottle of apple cider vinegar and baking soda comes out cheaper than the $1 bottle of shampoo that I use.

yeah, but if you are using special, all natural, major expensive stuff it does come out a lot cheaper, fyi.

I also use $1 shampoo so this would indeed be more expensive for me as well.

I guess you wash it out very well just like shampoo.

Meh.
By time you futz with baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice olive oil and/or honey, you've got a moderately priced bottle of shampoo.
The science is questionable at best. Re SLS, I can only find the problems alleged sources to an article by a guy named Mark Fearer, who describes himself as a professional genealogist. I did a lot of reading on SLS a few years ago when my son had canker sores, and found that most of the alleged problems with it are myths. (One that is not is the problem with canker sores, BTW.) But if you're going to stop using shampoo for that reason, stop using toothpaste as well.
As to how clean this gets your hair ... I'm guessing not very.
