I would love to get a new countertop but alas it's not in our budget right now they want for the cheapest kind $3000.00! So I am going to paint it. I want to marbelize an off white one, has anyone tried this before?

I'd be afraid of paint flecks coming off onto any food that touched the counter. maybe try to get contact paper with a nice print or something to cover it?

if you are handy you could do stone effects it comes out looking like granite. It is time consuming but you can do it for about $200 They sell it at home depot. We just did it so pm me if you want more details

Emee does it have a smooth finish? I am not worried about it coming off since 1. hot stuff anyways goes on a hot plate and 2. I cut my veg on a board not on the counter . 3. If there is a varnish for finished results that should adhere no?

I would think you can put a protective coating on the marbleized paint ...
the stones sound intriguing ... what kind emee ??
you can get laminate to redo the countertops - but you have to cut it out and adhesive it with heat ...

a good gloss paint won't peel off if it's done well. I had a countertop like that for years.
