I was thinking of buying a bread machine, is it worth it? what I mean is will I always use it (practicly speaking). I wanted to make my kids healthier breakfasts. Anyone have one and use it all the time? Is it annoying like I find food proccesors annoying?

I love my bread machine. I had a small one and gave it away to my SIL several years ago when I was able to get a big Zojirushi on sale and she loves it too. I use mine several times a week--making dough for bread, challah, sweet rolls, dinner rolls, dumplings, pizza/calzone, etc, etc. I can have whatever I want, pas yisroel, whole wheat, etc, ready in my kitchen when I want it. If you have a really really big family you may be limited, but a 2 lb bread machine can make a good sized loaf of bread and handle making dough for you to shape of up to about 6 cups of flour--enough for 2-3 18" pizzas, 2 big challahs, 2 loaves of french/italian bread, or a quite large loaf of dinner bread. OTOH, I gave one to my mother and she never uses it even though they love fresh bread.

I love my bread machine and we use it practically every day. I mostly make bread for lunch for the kids. and I make all kinds. I use a base of WW flour and I put seeds in. flax, sesame, etc.. and its great. it has a bit of a crunch. also ill put shredded carrots, zucchini, etc.. basically anything.
elisecohen had some really good ideas with what she makes with hers.

Can you set them on a timer and wake up to fresh bread? How does this work with leaving eggs inside overnight?

yes, but you would have to use a recipe which does not need eggs. many bread recipes don't.

you just put all the ingredients in and go to sleep and when you wake up you have fresh bread. because it cooks it inside. so there is no issue with eggs. but I only use eggs when I make dough for challah. every day bread you don't really put eggs in. the bread recipes that come with the machine don't usually call for eggs unless its challah/pizza dough. or some other specialty thing that you will make.

Also, you can buy powdered dried eggs and use that without fear of salmonella/e coli etc. But there are plenty of egg-free recipes to use with the machine on timer anyway. I'd suggest going to the library, checking out a couple of books of bread machine recipes, going through and thinking about whether they're the kind of thing your family would eat.

Oh, and beware--it's very easy to start over baking and overeating when you get all excited about fresh sticky buns, chinese dim sum, pizza...and start making them every day!
