I decided to do a chocolate theme this year...I figured it's the best since most of my family and my husband's ENTIRE family are chocoholics.
so far, here are my ideas:
*a chocolate liquer (easier said than done, I know...not sure where I can find that)
*some kind of chocolate cake with chocolate icing (home-made)
*maybe rumballs or something, covered in chocolate (also home-made)
*a fancy chocolate bar...maybe
(*is there such a thing as chocolate hamentashen?)
anyone have anything more original than that? p.s. I'd rather go more for somethign that's inexpensive...
thanks in advance!

If you can't get chocolate liquor, maybe you can do chocolate milk.
Chocolate covered fruit.

I know I told you a lot of stuff in person, but- this is more fun... lol
you can get those big bags of mini chocolate bars. like La-Hits (do they still call them that?), or Kit-Kats (I forgot what the heimish version is called)... it's not so expensive- and you can have more of a variety that way...

Instead of hamantashen with chocolate filling, you can do regular filling and then dip the cookies into chocolate so they are kind of half covered. Very elegant looking.

I did a choc theme one year.
I made mini choc cakes, chocolate filled hamantaschen (use the israeli choc spread stuff as filling), a packet of hot cocoa, and tied up the bag with a chocolate licorice - that didn't work perfectly, but was ok.

I think you can find chocolate covered rice cakes.
I have also seen napkins and paper plates with images of chocolates on them.
depending where you are you can also find chocolate shaped scented candles.
good luck!
cute idea.

You can get chocolate hamantashen in chocolate stores. I did that one year and put everything chocolate. Chocolate liqueur is available at most kosher liquor stores as well- there is one made in new york. Also, Sabra has a chocolate flavour and godiva makes a pareve liqueur. I did a hamantash theme with chocolate hamantashen, real hamantashen and a silver hamantash to boot. It turned out really cute. I don't live in the ny area so if these items are available here, I'm sure you can get them anywhere.

Although I have no recipe I think that chocolate liquer is very easy to make.

I did a chocolate theme last year. I made hamentashen filled with choc chips (which mostly melted and you didn't have to deal with a messy filling), I dipped strawberries in chocolate, and added a bag of shoko (israeli chocolate milk). I put it all on a tray and sprinkled the tray with little chocolate candies.
It came out very nice and not too expensive. The only real issue was that it needed to be refrigerated because of the shoko and the strawberries, so it needed to be delivered individually and promptly.

Maybe you could package it all in a simple dark brown box with gold tissue paper inside and tied with a big gold ribbon. It make it look more elegant and expensive.
Or it could be on a gold dish/container with a big brown bow.
You can definitely get kosher chocolate liquor. Godiva minis look really elegant.
You could buy larger containers of loose chocolates like viennese crunch, etc. and separate them into small clear containers tied with little gold ribbons.
Rum balls could go in little bronze or gold gauze bags.

btw I had forgotten to add that my new idea was to do everything with regular and pink chocolate, just 'cuz they go so nicely together.
so so far I've made these two things, I still plan on making (hopefully) black and white cookies that have pink and brown, fruit dipped half in pink and half in brown chocolate and maybe some hamentashen also dipped half in pink and half in brown. if I don't have enough things to fill it up, I might also make some small purim molds, of course-out of pink and brown chocoaltes.
some chocolate liquer of course too, with maybe some packets of hot cocoa and a few chocolates.
