The spider is not included in either of the versions that I have available. (The nearest is the scorpion.)
There are only 52 animals and birds etc mentioned, the other 32 are plants or other natural (or spiritual) phenomena.
I presume that the animals that do appear are representative of all creatures. |
That's interesting.
I have the Artscroll version and I just looked in it and it says about the spider that 'Some identify this creature as a lizard.'

What does it literally mean in this sense-- salvation from what?

I started saying it every day.
I can't believe I haven't missed a day yet....
But, I make sure to do it at the same time every day so I don't forget.
Anybody else doing it?

I never understood what the connection between the animals and their pasukim are. Who put the perek shira together?

I was just at the bookstore enquiring about perek shira and the man told me that its also important to understand what is being said,
in the first few paragraphs, it says: kol haosek and kol haomer.
Kol haosek means that if we understand it, then good (listed in perek shira itself) will happen to us in this world.
kol haomer is if we read it, good (listed in perek shira itself) will happen to us in olam habah.
Just thought you want to know.

I was looking for various reasons for a new job. I was searching already for a veeery long time, and was starting to get desperate.
Then I started to say a cycle of 40 days Perek Shira. I'm not even finished saying the cycle, but from when I started saying it, suddenly there was a very attractive job opening...
And B''H, B''H I got the job.
My current boss is now furious that I want to leave, but I'm sure that the remaining days that I have to say Perek Shira will help me get away from here smoothly.
Thank you Hashem for listening to my tfillos!

Perek shira is a nice thing to say. If someone needs a yeshua then they can take it upon themselves to say it for 40 days in a row. Congrats!
