schedule is approximately: wakes up 8am
takes nap 10-12
up till 3:30
naps 3:30-6
up till 8 pm
goes to bed for the night
This of course is approximate and changes but hes done this the past few days
is he sleeping too much?
should I be concerned?
someone got me worried...
but he plays nicely when awake.
he wakes up on his own from morning nap, but I sometimes need ot go in on him at 6 pm cuz I want him to be tired by 8 pm bedtime
keep in mind, of course I dont know hes sleeping the whole time in the crib, it could take him a while to fall asleep, and he could play in there sometimes..

Does he eat well? Is he developing? If you're really concerned you can ask the pediatrician.

yes he eats well and is developing fine, although a bit on the smaller side, as he always has been.
he had a well visit recently and doc wasnt concerned about his size or development but I didn't think to ask about sleep time, till someone mentioned that maybe he is sleeping too much (yesterday).

My toddler was like this for awhile and the dr said if he is energetic and active when he is awake, not to worry, and enjoy it while is lasts. Now he sleeps much less

my son did the same. slept a ton until he was about 3. I was so nervous about it I asked the doc at every appt, lol. apparently, so long as he's alert and not groggy and spacey when awake, its ok. some kids just need more sleep, and it probably takes him longer to enter the deeper sleep that counts which is why he sleeps for longer.

thanks, your replies are comforting. I assumed if hes happy and plays well when awake its fine and I should just enjoy it while it lasts, but I guess I will double check with doc next time we are there.

My ds had approx this schedule at 15 months. He's always slept a lot. B"H, he's fine! Still a good sleeper though.
