Hi,
I have lots of berets that are knit cotton and after a few years of marriage they are starting to turn yellowish from sweat in the band inside. How can I safely wash them?
I also have similar hats but they have a metal band, they are crushable.
Any suggestions?

I wash my berets, including wool, in a mesh bag in cold water in the machine on the gently cycle. For sweat stains--I would try hydrogen peroxide directly on the stain.

I use shampoo for oily hair for the sweat stains on my husbands shirts. I just rub it in a little and wash. Works wonders!

I use the gentle cycle with cold water. But that may not work for all berets.
