Really? Do Ziplocs work better than foil?

Yes, Ziplock bags are much better than foil. Foil is not airtight like a Ziplock bag! When things are airtight=fresh (no freezer smells seeping in).

I don't have Ziploc bags and I never used them for freezing challa in the U.S. I freeze them in plain plastic grocery bags and they are always delicious.

I don't see how foil could work in a freezer to keep the stuff fresh. They now have the challah size ziplocs.

Also- Ziplock bags.
I think Ziplock bags of all shapes and sizes are my favorite household organizing items. They are sooo useful!

I do both - first wrap them in foil, then put in a shopping bag, often double layering - and also make sure the bags have no holes in them.

I use clingwrap for large challos and ziplock for smaller challos. No large size ziplocs here.

Yea I also do foil and then ziplock. So Friday night right before I turn off the oven I put the challah in so it's nice and warm.

Thanks everyone! I don't think I've seen Ziplocs big enough for Challahs. The foil/warming idea sounds yummy - I'll try it tonight!!

if my challah is too big for a standard freezer bag - I will try to put the zip-bag around both ends and overlap them...

also - I dont like the "challah" bags sold in the store - as they are very thin and would rather use a regular ziplock bag or freezer bag to protect the challah from freezer burn.

I don't know where you live, but most heimish groceries should have it next to the ziplocs, it's just a different brand. If there's a x-mas tree shops around your area, they carry it for quite cheap.

I wouldn't wrap directly in grocery bags, worried they are not foodsafe?

I wrap in roasting bags and reuse them a few times
