my son, 2 years old has been having very soft - watery stools for the past 3 weeks. at one point he was dehydrated and could have possibly gotten a stomach virus on the same day - but its been 2 weeks since.

he complains constantly about his stomach hurting and yesterday in gan had 2 dirty diapers and two more followed when he got home. but today he had the worst diaper of the century. it was watery and all over the place.

hes a very small kid and I have been nervous about his lack of weight gain and growth. (hes about 10 kilo - maybe Sad ) im small too but I was never below average as a baby. the doc said on the charts his height and weight slowly slowly go up, but he has just reached the bottom of the chart. he goes every 6 months for monitoring, but I am nervous and am wondering if anyone has experienced something like this and it turned out to be nothing.

up until a half a year old he was not able to have any milk ingested by me. (I nursed him) he reacted to the lactose free formula as well as the regular. I went on a dairy free diet for 6 months, and after tested a few times with dairy and he didnt react, but he reacted if I gave it to him. two days before his first birthday I gave him a sip of milk and he was fine. but his growth slowed down. yesterday I decided to take him off milk, but am wondering if it will make a difference as his diet does not consist mainly of dairy. maybe gluten- yes. which is my next step. hes a tiny tiny kid. and looks like a one year old. the doctors are not concerned bc his charts show some movement and his motor and mental functioning are normal-high.

anyone went through something similar that can give some advice or helpful info?

thanks for reading.

That sounds rough. Sometimes an unpset stomach can be set off by a virus and it takes the body time to recover even after the virus is gone. Try not to let him get dehydrated.

Apparently many many people have celiac. Some outgrow it. Here's a link to an article I found via google.

Wishing you hatzlacha and nachas!

one of the signs of a celiac disease is a distended stomach. my daughter is nearly two and weighs less than your son. she is not on milk. she has a special formula and they told me that its fine if a kid is small as long as they gain, if they start dropping then its problematic. why dont u ask the dr to do a test for celiac u can get tested with a blood test its pretty simple if you think it might be bothering him.

My DS (#2) was also tiny for his age. He still is. At almost 3 he was 11kg. But no other "issues" to speak of.
