I am trying to nurse as long as possible. I basically am nursing exclusively but recently have been trying to introduce foods because I am worried that she is hungry. The problem is that when I give her food I think she is nursing less but there are also times that she just is not interested in nursing even though I didn't give her any solids and other times she will nurse very well. Any tips? People that have nursed exclusively a baby this age, please let me know what you did. TIA!!

I nursed my now 3 1/2 year old daughter until she was 17 months old and I am now nursing my 16 month old son, now only twice a day. At 6 months I started giving my kids rice cereal and the other cereals and then slowly added other jars of fruits/veggies. By 10 months they were both eating cheerios or baby food jars at least twice a day. I felt they wouldn't be getting enough nutrients at that point from my milk. Talk to your doctor about your baby getting enough nutrients from just your milk.

I think La Leche League supports starting foods once the child is developmentally ready and after 6 months:
LLL: Starting Solids
