I'm looking for a simple, good sauce for swiss steak.
I need it right now, I still have to buy ingredients.

TIA

Sautee a chopped onion until browned. Then stir in 1 (5.5 ounce) can tomato juice, 1/2 cup diced canned tomatoes, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard. Pour over meat. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 1-1/2 hours or until tender.
It's best if you first sprinkle steak with salt and pepper. Then pound flour into the meat. In a large skillet, brown meat in oil on both sides. Transfer to baking dish and continue with steps to make sauce...

Second time I've seen you post that you need recipes quickly...give us some advance notice! JK LOL

Thanx so much!! Looks good this recipe, but I don't have worcestershire sauce, and I don't wanna buy a bottle only to use it once..so could I just skip it, or maybe use something else???

And u gotta get to know me...I'm a last minuter person, but I always manage to be ready on time!!! LOL

You can use soy sauce as a substitute for this but there is really no substitute for real worcestershire sauce - it probably won't taste the same. I have a bottle in my fridge (it never goes bad) that I maybe use once every 2 months...it's worth it for when a recipe calls for it!
