Does licking it, spitting on it, sucking on it, or wiping it on a filthy sweater count as sterilizing? Yup, I've seen them all.

I do the first time out of the package. No reason to it except that's what it says to do on the package. Otherwise I never re-sterilize if it gets dirty, or falls on the floor etc...

First time out of the package and then once a week until baby is a little bigger and starts spending time on the floor.

I dont. My sister does.
Her kids have allergies, asthma, ear infections and a lot of colds. mine dont.
Not saying there is a coloration. Just saying that I dont think yo could point to a definitive benefit of sterilizing them either

I do straight out of the package but after that it's a quick rinse if anything at all (depending where and on to what it fell).

I do, right out of the package. Then I pour boiled water over it, until the kid starts eating shoes

For the first kid, I must have sterilized it every time it fell until she was a bit older. With my 4th now, no way!

Do you sterilize your breast before nursing?

With DS#1 I would throw them in with the bottles, until he was about 5 months old and putting everything (including dirt from the planter) in his mouth. After that, only if it fell on the bus floor.
With my subsequent children we were no longer reliant on the bus, so no, I don't. I WILL wash it off if it falls in a pile of dirt/leaves outside.

Why? Paprika has a very good point. If plain washing the breast is enough, then why isnt it enough to just wash the pacifier?
