I just saw the thread about giving products with honey to babies. I put honey into my cholent, and into some lukshen kugel too. Is that really a problem to give the baby?? The cholent is my biggest concern since that is a big part of his food intake on Shabbos - and Sunday, and sometimes Friday too. Can the spores survive 24 hours or so of cooking??

I read that some spores can still survive heat.

no honey for babies under 1. Cooked is also a huge problem. Check with your pediatrician...

Cooking doesn't reach high enough temperatures to kill botulism (clostridium botulinum) which is why babies can't eat it even after it is pasteurized. I would just use brown sugar in my cholent which may not taste exactly right for you but will make your life a lot easier if it is a major food your baby eats. When my baby was under one I substituted honey in everything for brown or white sugar.

Cooked honey is not okay.
Babies under 12 months shouldn't have honey in any form.

Regular honey you buy in the store, is already pasteurized, and is really not an issue, Raw natural unpasteurized honey is the problem. Unless you get your honey at an organic bee farm, I would not really worry.

Even pasteurized honey can be dangerous and should not be given to children under 12 months.
