I want to make a special dinner for my DH and myself for Friday night. Anyone have a good meat recipe that is slightly fancy? I'm happy to splurge on a more expensive cut of meat or something like that.

you can do steak and mushrooms (if you like them). It is easy and delicious.
10 slices Steak
5 Large Onions Sliced
2 box Cremini Mushrooms Sliced
2 box Portobello Mushrooms Sliced
1 tablespoon/s Oil
Preparation
Using a large frying pan (with a lid) put 1-2 tablespoons of oil in the pan. Layer steak with a little salt, pepper and garlic powder, then onions to cover then mushrooms. Continue layering until all the steak is used up. It is ok if the cover doesnt fit right away it will once the steaks start cooking. Cover the pan and put on a VERY low flame (very important) and let cook for about 3 hours.
or you could do a standing rib roast which also delicious click here to see it

SVG - I'd love to see it - thank you!
And thanks culinaryk and basimcha - these all sound really good - it's going to be difficult deciding which one to make!

Minute Steak:
6 slices minute steak
2 T. oil
1 onion, sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water

Heat oil. Add onions and meat and brown for 15-20 minutes.
Add the remaining ingredients and let simmer for 2-3 hours, covered, until meat is very soft. Add more water if necessary.
