Do you wash your towels on the hot setting?

Only dish towels.
All others cold, with as little detergent as possible. This method is supposed to keep towels softer for longer.

I do. After 14 years of washing them on hot they are definitely starting to show signs of wear though.

I wash few things on hot. Towels are one of them. With such hard usage, I want to make absolutely sure that anything nasty is killed. Bedding is another, as 60degrees is the minimum to kill bugs like dustmites.

I wash my personal towels on the "warm water" setting - to keep them soft and fluffy. However, I always wash my guest towels in hot water, to make sure they are properly sanitized for the next guest who uses them.

The dryer gets hot enough to sanitize.

Hot water cleans real dirt and grease better than cold. It also fades colors, but I'd rather have clean faded linens than dirty bright ones. Also washing in hot water kashers them.

After 14 years they will show signs of wear no matter what setting you use.
