Thanks

Looks delicious, but I cooked up brown lentils. Can I use them instead? they are fairly mushy and in a lot of water, but I can drain and mash them.

I've never tried with brown lentils, but I don't see why not. I make yummy "mocked liver" with brown lentils. yum....

You can pm Seraph - she has an awesome recipe for lentil walnut burgers (they were featured in AMI a little while back) or do a search on her blog, pennilessparenting.com. They are so so SO good - my neighbor who is a die hard meat eater/absolutely no substitutes type thought they were real meat. I personally found them to be better the next day, even cold out of the fridge.

Many (many) years ago I had an amazing recipe - it was in one of the women's magazines. It had lentils, brown rice, sunflower seeds. It was so good that my husband asked how we were eating it on milchig dishes. Alas, I've never found it again.
If anyone has such a recipe, I would love to have it. Meanwhile, I may try Seraph's.
