Why is buckwheat chometz? It's not one of the 5 types of grain.

by the way, amother, not sure why you're hiding, but I don't see why not.
As long as splatters don't get into YOUR food!!

It's fine to own kitnios on Pesach, even if it's not your minhag to eat it.

rice & bukweed are not hometz, and therefore there is not problem is crumbs or splatters will be around, as nong as they're not in the food.
My friends buy rice cakes as snack b4 pesah, b/c rice crumbs do not give them extra cleaning to do. (Just make sure they're pure rice cakes, b/c some have wheat added)
Babies can and eat kitnios on Pesah - most formulas contain kitnios in them.
If the kitnios fall into food, ask your Rav what to do.
If it falls on kitchen or food related surfice, and everything is cold, all you need to do if rince it off.
Even if hometz falls onto something pesadic, and everything is cold, all you need to do is to rince it off very well.

If a baby needs formula which contains kitnios, every Rav will allow the baby to drink it. Nobody will withdraw nurishment from a baby for 8 days!!!! (which is not hametz to begin with)
