HELP!!! How to de- rust a pacificer clip

Hi - I have a new baby with a pretty metal pacificer clips with the pearls etc
so now when I clip it on it get the clothing orange like from rust - I think it gets wet when the baby spits up sometimes - is there anyway to clean it from the rust - I thought of a few ideas but I don't want to make it worse thanks
please help
I dont want to throw away the clip thanks

There is a product called wink, sold n hardware stores that cleans rust.

Lemon juice on the stain. let it dry in direct sunlight. Wash in machine . Repeat if necessary.

Works like magic...

Yes, and then wipe it off. Repeat numerous times. Try to let it "soak" a little.

I would be wary of putting WD-40, or nail polish for that matter, near a baby's hands or mouth.

The lemon juice might work for the rust on the clip, if it's not too bad.

What do you mean how and why?

You open the bottle of clear nail polish (or white or whatever color you want) and using the brush-end that comes attached to the cover, you paint all over the metal. If the metal isn't exposed, it won't bleed rust everywhere.

Depending on how often you use the thing, I'd probably put another coat on it once a week.
