How do I clean a permanent coffee filter? I have a one cup coffee maker that I use 1-3 times a day. I rinsed out the grounds in the sink and it clogged my sink rain horribly. The grounds don't come out if I tap it on the garbage can or a bag on the counter. Any suggestions?

At work, I shake most of them into the garbage and the rest into the sink.
Maybe take a paper towel to help it along.
