first iron the collar, fold it back and iron down.
Next do both sides of the sleeves.
now start with the button side over the end of the board and make your way around until you finish.
Keep pressing steam button and if its extra creased spray some water. Use spray starch and hang up as soon as you have finished doing it!

I iron the collar first, then the whole of the back from the inside, starting at the top.
I then fold over one front part and iron that from the outside, then do the sleeve on that side, then repeat with the other side.

I do the collar last since it is the most important part to be smooth and laying right IMO.
First I do the top of the back, then one side, the back and the other side, then the sleeves and only last the collar. I don't use starch, because no one here likes stiff shirts, but I do use lots of steam.

I was told that doing collar and sleeves first means the rest of the shirt doesnt get creased while u do it....I guess everyone has their own way and thats how its best for them

My girls uniform shirts have collars that love sticking out funny, and opening the shirt flat to iron it while the collar is still warm from ironing it is a sure fire way to make the collar stick out instead of lay down flat.
My husband's shirts don't care, but since there is only one of him and three of them, I do them all the same way. B"H I have never gotten creases from ironing the collar last.
