It has a pretty strong taste, much stronger than honey.

It tastes like very mild mollases.
I use it for all my baking, salad dressing, and stuff like that. If you like sweet tea it won't help you with that.

I meant health wise, not taste wise. I made cookies for shabbat and they were absolutely evil (they were so good they were evil)

I only use it in recipes that call for honey. I don't know how to sub honey for sugar, but if you do you can use silan.

Just check that the silan you're using is actually pure date syrup, and not date syrup mixed with sugar syrup. The cheap stuff is a sugar syrup/date syrup mix.

It is 100% dates. and delicious I might add. The cookies that I made (with no sugar, no oil, no flour) were to die for

I used:
1 cup home made apple sauce (in place of oil/marg.)
about 3/4 cup date syrup (in place of 3/4 cup sugar and 3/4 cup brown sugar)
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs (still looking for a sub for that. I just heard about flax seed, I have to read up on that one)
2 cups bran - I crushed non sugar bran flakes (in place of 2 /12 cups flour)
1 tsp baking powder
and I added a few chocolate chips but I am sure that it would have been delicious without them as well.
bake them for about 15 - 20 minutes, you have to keep on checking them, but I took them out when they were a bit chewy still on 350 F (about 180 C)
