We're not sure whether we're having a boy or a girl yet, but if it's a girl, her first name will be Malka. Malkie is a nice enough nickname, but I want to know what my other (possibly more original) options are. TIA!

My Malka is called Mali. We planned on calling her that from when we chose the name, b/c she was named after my grandmother a"h. My grandmother came from Europe as a young girl and was called "Molly" once she got to the US. We like our spelling because you can "see" the connection to Malka...but Mali/Molly has definitely "come back," it's one of those "retro" names that's definitely used nowadays...anyway, we love the name, it's different enough so that she's not one of many with the same name, but not different enough to make her stand out or not like her name...

Malks and Malka'le are the ones that stuck here. My husband would prefer Molly after what his grandmother was called (even though it wasn't her name).
