The Rabbi who gives the Wed shiur spoke about that topic today. Because of office politics I came late and left early, but this is what I gleaned from it......

He started off with a sort of story.

Suppose you did something amazing for the American peple and the president rewarded you with an unlimited hour at Fort Knox, carrying off as much gold as you wanted to. Even though you probably were up all night partying, you would find the energy to come away with a nice, good amount of gold which would sustain you, worth millions if not billions of dollars.

He then compared the chunks of gold to mitzvos. Mitzovs stay with you forever. They become part of you and go to bat for you and sustain you in this word and the next world.

If you compare the words of Torah you learn to chunks of gold, it makes it easier....easier to do the davening, easier to learn, and easier to do what you need to do in life.

So...........what do you all think?

Nope. Not Chabad.

It was Rabbis Yosef Grossman at the OU.

You can catch him live, online, giving his shiur on a webcast on the OU site!

He's amazing!!!!!!

Chumash Tehillim Tanya. Abrreviation - CHiTaT (or Chitas).
The 6th Lubavitcher Rebbe was mesaken that every day, we say/learn the portion of Chumash that corresponds to that day of that parsha with Rashi, say the portion of Tehillim for that day of the month, and learn the portion of Tanya for that day of the year.
Men do it as a given, as do unmarried boys and girls, but mothers, well takes alot of willpower.

Motek - please do share.

Crayon, for a woman, nothing takes precedence over caring for her children.
There is a reason we are not bound by the mitzvos aseh shehazman grama.
Of course if we can we should do it.
