Last year I found this great spiced nut recipe. It had an egg & sugar, salt & pepper (if I recall correctly) you coated the nuts (almonds) & then baked them. Not sure where I found it. Possibly Imamother (but I've searched & can't find it) or maybe one of the jewish publications.
Does anyone have this recipe?? It was really good & I would love to make them again.
TIA!

I have this old recipe:
Sugared Nuts
1 lb. shelled nuts (I've used walnut or pecan halves but I'm sure you could also use almonds)
1 egg white
½ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Beat egg white only until foamy. Mix in sugar and cinnamon, and then the nuts. Spread mixture on well greased (with oil, not Pam) cookie sheet and bake at 225 degrees for 45 minutes, turning and breaking up mixture every 15 minutes.

My recipe doesn't call for pepper and is similar to OOTBubby's.
1 lb nuts (I've successfully done almonds, hazelnuts, and pecans)
2 egg whites
3/4 c. sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves (I usually omit this step)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Cover the nuts with the egg whites and the vanilla. Meanwhile pour the sugar and spices into a ziploc bag. Spoon the nuts into the ziploc, seal and shake (I usually have my daughter do this step).
Spread onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake at 300 for 20 min, mixing every 7-10 min depending on your oven.
