My close friend's son is having his Bar Mitzvah next month and she wanted me to help with making little "Welcome Bags" for the 45-50 family/friends coming in from out of town. They'll be staying by different families in the community. She was thinking of printing out a map of where the shul/their host/etc is, and including things like a water bottle, granola bars, candy for the kids, etc...

Any other suggestions of things or food that would be nice to include in these bags?

Thanks!!

A map of the area (perhaps highlighted with the shul, kosher store and baalei simchas house).

Davening times should also be in there as well as "order of the weekend" (whats happening, where and at what time.).
You can also put the names of each guest and where they are staying with contact numbers of that host.

Water bottle, granola bar/mini cereal box and some crayons for little kids is cute too.
If you want to spend a bit more money, you can put mini shampoo and shower gel also.

Perhaps some leaflets about local attractions and how to get there. A list of local things to see in the town.

In what country is the bm? Is it over Shabbat or is it a weekday?

A little sewing kit for last-minute repairs?

Food/snacks: a banana or other fruit? fruit roll-ups? cough drops?

Thanks for the great ideas, everyone!

Dr. Mom - the Bar Mitzvah is in the US - Northeast but OOT community. And it's on a Shabbos.
