I am scared! I have a 2.5 yr old with croup and an 18 month old with croup.
We saw our ped. today and they both were given a steroid for 2 days with one dose per day which they got earlier (though my 18 month old spit some of hers out....)
Now it's night time which I hear is when the real breathing issues with croup begin and I am so worried. I will not handle seeing my kids struggle to breathe CH"V and I don't know what I will do.
We have a humidifier going in their rooms and the monitors on to hear them.

if one of them has a major coughing fit, go into a closed bathroom and turn the shower on hot to make steam. you'll all be ok!

My doc told me that it's the change in temp. when you walk out of the steamy bathroom and into the cooler hallway is what clears the croup.
go into the steamy bathroom for 5 min. then come out for 5 min. and repeat.

should help! Hatzlacha!

I agree with the going outside idea. When ours we little, if it was cold enough we sat next to an open window but if it too warm, open the freezer door and stand there so your child can breathe in the cold air. It worked better for us than the steamy bathroom.

Onion fumes also help. Put half an onion next to each one's pillow. The room will smell, but it does help.
