When I was growing up, we had a dog that was black and white, so we named her blite  . My dh boss gave us two birds and we named them snowy and olive. Snowy was white and olive was green. Getting the picture here  ? We named them after their color  .

I only named one cat a colour-related name, and I also had a cat with extra toes whose name was Mittens. Otherwise, my entire pet-loving family has gone for funny-sounding people names (we had a "Homer" before Homer Simpson became popular) or other non-traditional pet names. And they end up with a gazillion nicknames anyway.
