I remember that there was a thread from last year about using different types of oils for different types of cooking. Like, hazelnut oil for baking, etc.
Does anyone remember? I have olive oil, hazelnut, and safflower. Thanks

I'd use hazelnut for baking, olive for sauteeing and salad dressing, safflower for times when you davka want the oil taste not to be noticeable - cases where you'd have used canola.
There's also coconut oil, which can more or less sub for margarine in baked goods.

Exactly what I do. The safflower is also used for frying (say latkes, schnitzel, etc.). And I find the hazelnut oil gives baked goods a really good taste -- for a while I had a scare and it looked it wasn't sold here, but it eventually made it to the shelves of one store.
