Those that have the 7 cup or larger Cuisinart Food Proc. :

What kind of blade do you use for potato kugel?

Are you happy?

How does it compare?

I used to use the grater attachment for potato kugel. But then I found a recipe that uses the regular blade (KBD) and it comes out to be a lovely light potato kugel. I also like using that attachment better then the grater one, I find you don't have to be so careful in cutting up the potatoes, which is an extra step and feeding each one through the tube. This way I just put the potatoes in (usually halved) and walla.

I have the 11 cup which is not that big I would have liked the 14 cup which has a stronger motor. I use the s blade for kugel, it is a little of a pain as I have to keep on emptying the bowl. I love the cuisinart but I think 7 cups is way too small for most things.

I have to empty the bowl once when making a potato kugel but I don't find it too much of a pain.

I have the cusininart for Pesach and one for all year too. I'm pretty happy with my 7 cup one. Then again, I usually cook for less than a dozen people, so if you have a huge crowd, it probably pays to get a large capacity one.

Only1, I'm with you on the knife blade vs. grater blade.

What is the attachment? Am I missing something I can buy for Kugel?

My 14 C. one came with the grating blade, and while the S blade is easier, my husband prefers a grated kugel, so whatever makes him happy...the grating blade works very well though. It probably takes me 10 minutes to make the kugel and another 5 to clean since it cleans so easily if you wash it right away.

I've heard some people talk about food processors and mention that it comes with a "kugel blade". Is that a special blade that only comes with certain models, or is it a standard piece that comes with most food processors? Is it the S shaped blade?

Can you describe what it looks like (kugel blade for Cuisinart).

It depends if you use the grater attachment - which is a metal disc (with holes that pop up a bit - like on a regular handheld grater) the disc attaches right at the top of the bowl and then you click the lid on top.
The regular S-shaped blade can also be used for kugels -sits at the bottom of the bowl.
