I don't agree the dress I posted looks old. I think if a sparkly young woman is inside it, it will look young. I kept your build in mind when picking it. You said you were short. This dress has the interest high up, and no sparkle on the sleeve cuff, and could be hem-shortened easily. The sleeves could be shortened easily too.

There is no waist emphasis to break the up-down line, which can be shortening.

You may be reacting to this dress being less body-defining than the others. But I think that might play better than a more body defining style, worn with something underneath it.

But you will look great in any of them.

Why not? If I wear a shirt under it, why would it not be tnius?

It's my personal opinion that how the bust is pronounced is not tznius. it's only my personal feeling. Each person how to do what feels right for them.

Sometimes it's not just about covering your elbows and knees that makes a dress tznius.

I like your description of a sparkly young woman Smile Since when are young women sparkly? You made me smile.

Does it have to be long? This would be beautiful with a dressy shrug and heels http://m.nordstrom.com/Product.....48665|f8000802

I recently needed a gown, but I had no time to run around to stores. I ordered about a dozen dresses to my house and sent back the ones I didn't want. It was so easy. I loved Nordstrom because they shipped and I returned for free. It was so much simpler than tiring myself out in stores. I recommend ordering each dress in 2 sizes, so you don't have to wait until the next one comes.

I like the dress from David's best, but I think that it will long strange with sleeves, given the shoulder detailing.

What about something like these, if you like the purple:

I love these, although they're not at all similar to anything you chose:

love those dresses especially the second one, but they're all amazing.

This is too interesting. OK, it's grey and simple, but with the slit sown up it is very slimming. It would be a good backdrop for jewelry.

I occurs to me that it might show where the slit had been sewn up. Hmm.

This is cocktail length, not long.

Rather a bargain price.

As I wrote, I am in Israel. I am going to be trying one dress, not spending money on shipping more than that at all.

Out of all the dresses linked, I still like your first dress the best.

I am not thin. I would not wear either of those dresses. they are not the kind of dressess that accenuate the positive, and play down the negative. both models look fat, and both are likely thinner then me, so if the model looks fat, I doubt it would look good on someone who is not a model.

Also, it is very hard to make sleeves on dresses like this, its easier to build a whole top on a strapless dress (which I had done for my bils wedding) then add shoulders and a neckline to a dress like these. it will cost more then the dress, at that point, its time to just go custom. It cost me nearly 400 dollars to build up my dress, and that was 5 years ago, and an easier dress to fix then this.

I agree - I would buy a whole bunch from Nordstrom's, bring to a seamstress, see which one she could use fabric from to create a sleeve, or dye a shell, or whatever other option she has for you, and then return the others. Nordstrom is great for that
That's what I did when I had a whole bunch of weddings at the same time - and I got tons of compliments on my gown.
I ended up with a Tadashi gown on clearance from Nordstrom. It had an ornament that was totally tacky and was throwing me off. But my seamstress pointed out she could take off the ornament and sew on a nicer one. I ended up spending more on the ornament she added than I did on the gown! But the whole thing was WAY cheaper than a rental and I still have it (of course, I'm post baby now so who knows when I'll ever get to wear it again.)

As I wrote, I am in israel and will not be shipping multiple dresses here. That would be way too expensive.

What about this dress?

Hi OP
I have a plus size gown I would love to sell. It's light purple, would that color work for you?
It's chiffon, tzanua, and worn only twice. I'd be happy to get just 300 shekels for it. You could always cut it, redesign it or leave it as is....
You can pm me and I will send you a picture to see if you like it.

This is my favorite one in this entire thread, including the dresses from other posters.

I have a relative who tznius-ed that dress up for a family wedding--raised the neckline, added sleeves--and it looked beautiful.

I didn't have a chance to read through the whole thread so I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but if you are a larger size, don't get a flowy soft material dress. It's just going to accentuate extra weight. Instead get a more fitted, harder material that will flatter you..
