Why is it rude to ask how old someone else is?
It might be rude to directly ask the person themselves how old they are, but what's wrong with inquiring about someone else? Someone's age might not be public knowledge, but it isn't private information. Especially when it's a semi-public figure.

Huh? My point is, it's not private information. Someone's age is not something secret, or something shameful, or something private. There's nothing rude about inquiring about it of other people. It's like asking how many kids someone has, or where they're from, or what school they went to. It's not private information.
