I would like to get an extra phone line in my home in ny
with just the basics .
do you know which phone service is the least expensive?

so ask them. I can't believe it's going to be cheaper to get a company to come to your house, just for one line...unless you get a deal like with your cable, internet, etc., like we get in nyc.

My daughter has Sunrocket and they have given them 2 phone numbers. Do you need a second phone or a 2nd number?
I have a 2nd line in my house which is my fax phone, and it has no frills on it, no call waiting, none of those bonus features, so it doesn't cost that much more.

if u have cable internet u can get voip. we have it for 30 dollars a month and we can call like 35 countries or something. (including us and canada)

We just got a voip as our second line through sunrocket. $10 a month, free long distance, so far no problems with service.

in order to be able to use VOIP, you need cable/broadband service
