I am not sure if this is the right thread,if not, I apologize.
I usually cook from scratch, using healthful, whole ingredients. Last week was very hectic and my husband happened to have told me that he would love it if I served lots of little salads with the fish instead of the two or three that I usually serve. (He is trying to lose weight and having a variety of salads to eat still lets him enjoy the meal). I have seen people serve small bowls of ten different salads, but I had no idea how they make such small quantities without needing to discard a ton of vegetables that are half used. I bought takeout salads instead, picking out the "least worst" and served them during the meal. My husband and I were vomiting half the night, but our guests , who ate the same salads, were all fine. How can that be?

If your guests were fine, it probably wasn't the salads...

Can you think of anything that you ate that your guests didn't? Perhaps it was a stomach flu?

Might be something you ate earlier in the day.

were the salads really oily?
sometimes if you are not used to very fatty or oily things and then you eat them it can make you feel really sick.

Refuah shelaima! I make lots of small salads and BH we have no waste Smile If you won't have a lot of people and will not eat leftovers, you just make a small amount of each. An entire eggplant only makes one small bowl of salad. Most other vegetables are small enough that that you can choose how many of each to use.

Food poisoning has an incubation period of sometimes 18-24 hrs (sometimes longer!), so it might have been something you ate the day before, not the salads and not from Shabbat. It could also be norovirus (in which case, I hope your guests are ok, because you are usually contagious before the symptoms start!). Drink lots of fluids!
