Looking to buy a sewing machine. I am at loss.... there is soo much out there and everyone recommends something else. I see ladies here recommend brother but the stores don't promote it. Or there is Babylock or pfaff.
I will be using it mostly for alterations and some complete sewing. I don't want to spend less on a cheaper machine yet I'm not looking to spend $600+. Please sewing experts out there, help me choose a good sewing machine that won't break after 2 uses.

I recently bought the brother xm3700 from Costco online for $89.
I am not a professional but have been using it for mending and have been happy.

I do like my Brother, and it's Laura Ashley line is available for under $250 if it's within your budget.
Amazon has had a good set of reviews on this machine.
