If it's over 100 years old? How can I find out about that?
Thanks!

Google the question and the exact year that the penny is stamped with.
I think they're worth under $10 but I might be wrong.

How much you could get would also depend on the condition of the coin. Don't give up the day job.

When I was a teenager I had a penny from the year 1911.
Wish I knew where it was now. Oh well.

When I was a kid I had two pennies from the forties.
Alas, my toy bank broke and all of my copper fortune scattered to infinite black holes in the mess of my bedroom.

When I was a kid there were some farthings and hapennies (a quarter and half of a penny) knocking around. They were no longer in use, I think. (just googled, farthings went out of use in 1960 and hapennies in 1969)
Yes, money used to be worth that much that you could actually buy something with a farthing at one point.

Interesting! Pennies have actually been phased out in Canada. If you make a purchase using cash, the price is rounded to the nearest nickel. My kids take nickels for tzeddakah....

I used to have an 1853 indian head penny. It was worth $.53 then (30 years ago). Unfortunately, I either lost it or spent it accidentally.

My kids have 100's of pennies Indian heads and old ones from early 1900. We buy them on EBay, not worth much. They also cleft other coins and old dollar bills
