It's optional. However it's our day to do carpool and I wasn't going to send my ds. The other parents are calling and asking if we r sending. Do u think it's right if we don't do it. It technically is our turn it's just that school is optional. They r telling me they would send their son if they dad a ride both ways, but wouldn't send if they had to pick up or drop off

I wish my kids had school that day! To answer your question no I don't think you need to send. If they want to send their child they can drop off/pick up on their own and you would resume normal carpool rotation on the next regular school day. What would they do if your child was sick on your carpool day and you were not sending him to school? Would you still be expected to do carpool that day? (If that is the case then I would say you still should do carpool.)

I think it's stupid to have optional days
but don't send him & don't do carpool - what would be the point if there will be no break

Carpool etiquette by us is that if you skip a day, you make it up. I wouldn't do carpool, but I would pay back the people doing carpool for "my" day.

I live in a carpool town and of course if your child is sick or otherwise not going to school you are still responsible for that day!

Can you just swap days with someone else?

We also say you are responsible for days when you don't send your child (you can switch to do that). But, optional days are different. On those, everyone's for themselves and there aren't obligations.
